Felony and Misdemeanor Criminal Warrants are received from the District and County Courts. District and County court warrants are securely maintained in the warrant division office. When the fugitive is apprehended or the warrant is cleared by other methods, the warrant is returned to the court clerk of its origin.
The Criminal Warrant Division focuses on the management and execution of criminal arrest warrants. The Criminal Warrant Division is the central depository for warrants issued by the District, County, and a few from the Justice of the Peace Courts.
The division is tasked with ensuring that warrants are properly entered and filed in the in-house data system along with the Texas Crime Information Center (TCIC) or the National Crime Information Center (NCIC).
Civilian employees handle the timely entry and clearing of these fugitive warrants. Investigators are assigned to the Warrant Division who work in cooperation with other county-wide policing departments to effect fugitive arrests within the county. In addition, the Warrant Investigators are charged with the responsibility of transporting and extraditing apprehended fugitives from across the State of Texas or from anywhere within the United States. Fugitives that are incarcerated in other state or county jail facilities are transported back to Montgomery County to face pending criminal charges, demonstrating the long arm of the law and expressing our belief "if you do the crime, you will do the time."
The Warrant Investigators average over 150,000 miles per year in pursuit of fugitives that are incarcerated in other County or State facilities. The Criminal Warrant Division cannot do it alone; log onto the Crime Stoppers website or call 1-800-392-STOP (7867) to provide any information you may have in helping us in identifying the location of the Most Wanted Fugitive(s). All tips received will remain anonymous.
Your assistance can lead to the apprehension of a known fugitive and help get the criminal element off the street. The Warrant Division office hours are Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Traffic or moving violation Warrants issued in Montgomery County are generated and processed through the Justice of the Peace.
