The Jail Division has a staff of 286 sworn and civilian personnel.  The Jail is commanded by the Jail Administrator, Captain Ken Ariola.  There are also two lieutenants, seven Sergeants, and nine Corporals who provide additional supervision twenty-four hours every day of the year.  The Montgomery County Jail houses inmates for misdemeanor and felony crimes.  Some inmates are awaiting trial while others have been convicted and are serving their sentences.  Others have been convicted of felonies and are due to be transferred to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to serve their time.  Montgomery County has many different services and programs offered to inmates.

By using options 1-3, funds will be immediately available to the inmate.

3. How long until the person will be released after I post a bond for them?

The bonds are processed in the order we receive them. We cannot give you a specific time the subject will be released. There are many steps to process a bond/release.

4. What do I need to be able to visit?

First, you must be on the visitation list. (The inmate fills this out) You must have a state issued ID, either a Drivers License or an ID card.

5. What can I send to him/her?

The only thing the inmates may receive is letters. Books may be received if sent directly from the publisher or the online service such as Amazon.com. These books must be soft/paper back, no hard back books will be accepted.

6. When is his/her court date?

We do not know the court dates. You would need to contact the District Attorney’s office for a felony charge. Their telephone number is 936-539-7800. If it is a misdemeanor charge, you will need to contact the County Clerk’s office. Their telephone number is 936-539-7885.

7. Can I leave a message for the inmate?

We do not give the inmates any messages unless it is an emergency and we have verified the emergency. You may write them a letter or visit them on visitation day.

8. How do I send a letter to the inmate?

You will need his/her pin number (Personal Identification Number) and cell location. This information will need to be on the envelope along with the following:

Montgomery County Jail

Inmate’s Name

Pin # Cell location

#1 Criminal Justice Drive

Conroe, Texas 77301

9. The inmate went to court this morning and the Judge said he/she was going to be released; have you released them yet?

Inmates go to court in the morning and we may not receive the paperwork until after 5:00pm or sometimes the court has to wait on the Judge to sign the judgment and we do not receive the paperwork until the next day. Once we receive the judgment, it is figured for backtime and will be processed for release if there are no other charges on the subject.

                        10. How long will it take to relase them?

It could take anywhere from 6 hours to 12 hours. It just depends on how many arrestees are to be booked and whether they have a set bond. Probable cause hearings are sometime the next day after the arrest date.
