The Records Division focuses on the management and preparation of offense reports that are generated by the Montgomery County Patrol Division. The offense reports, supplements, and accident reports are entered into the in-house database. After the data entry is complete, offense reports must be copied and forwarded to appropriate agencies. Offense reports are eventually filed and stored by the Records Division for easy retrieval. The Records Division also provides authorized access to the reports of criminal incidents that have been investigated by the Sheriff's Office, also known public release information. An additional responsibility for the Records Division is to provide statistical data concerning the incidence of crime in our jurisdiction. Therefore, monthly crime statistics are forwarded to Austin under the Uniform Crime Report.

Beginning the morning of January 16, 2013, all accident report requests will go through Texas Department of Transportation, TX DOT.
Please note: Texas Law has recently changed making Dates of Birth confidential through the open records process. You may choose to allow the Sheriff’s Office to redact the Dates of Birth from your documents. However, failure to do so will result in a delay in the release of your records. Any agreement to redactions must be completed in writing on your open records to be effective.
