Pre-Employment Testing for Clerical Positions


The Montgomery County Sheriff's Department requires a typing test and clerical skills test for all clerical positions. Clerical positions include Warrant/Records Clerks and the Secretary positions. The applicant must pass both tests in order to be given a Montgomery County Sheriff's Department application for employment.

 

Typing Test

The Texas Workforce Commission will administer the typing test. This test measures the applicant's net typing speed. The applicant must successfully type a minimum of 50 WPM for all clerical positions except the Jail Records Specialist position. The applicant must successfully pass the test to advance to the written test.

 

Written Test

The Montgomery County Human Resource Office will administer the written test. This test measures the applicant's accuracy in spelling. The applicant must successfully pass the test with a minimum score in at least the medium average range. The applicant must pass the written test as well as the typing test in order to be given a Montgomery County Sheriff's Department application for employment.
