Communication Division

The Montgomery County Communications Center has the distinction of being one of two; Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) within the County, the other PSAP is located in the City of Conroe. Citizens who call 9-1-1 for any emergency service (Law Enforcement, Fire or EMS) are routed to one of these two centers; then directed to the appropriate discipline. The whole process from answering and routing calls occurs within seconds.
In 2009 the Montgomery County Communication Center received 465,159 calls for service; 167,781 of them being 9-1-1 calls. On average the Montgomery County Communication Center receives 8945 calls a week or 1274.4 calls in a 24 hour period.
In addition to answering emergency calls; the Montgomery County Communication Center Dispatches for 30 plus law enforcement agencies and houses the Texas Crime and Information Center / National Crime and Information Center (TCIC/NCIC ) computer system. The NCIC/TCIC computer system ties the Communication Center to State and Federal Agencies. It allows for the check and entry of wanted persons and stolen items from any law enforcement agency that is dispatched through the Communication Center.
This division is under the leadership of Captain Frankhouser and consists of 44 Telecommunicators, 4 Shift Supervisors, a Communication Supervisor and a Lieutenant. We are here to assist the citizens of Montgomery County and we are the first voice a citizen will hear in an emergency.
