Ranger is the newest addition to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit. He is an 80lb, two year old, German Shepherd from Czech Republic. Ranger was purchased from Vohne Liche Kennels in Denver, Indiana. He is trained for the use of Apprehension, tracking, and narcotic detection. Ranger holds five titles under his name in the Sporting Club’s of IPO and Schutzand in Europe. Ranger was selected as a police working dog after extensive training and observation. Deputy Everton traveled to Denver, Indiana on April 05, 2010 where he successfully completed over 200 hours of training at Vohne Liche Kennels.
Deputy Everton and Ranger will receive weekly continuous training at a minimum of 4 hrs. They will train with officers from ATF, Homeland Security, Conroe PD, and CISD. This is a group effort consisting of 15 dogs.
